MSW’s Jazz for the Soul (JFTS) not only presents great jazz for free to the community, but raises funds through on-site donations for local worthy causes. Led by our own Vicki McDermitt, last month’s JFTS event in Jazzbird
was notable for raising more than $1,000 for the first time. At one point in the night, Jazzbird resembled a revival meeting, with the energetic headliner, Sandra Bassett, collecting credit cards and vocally encouraging the crowd to donate to Hart Pantry. The local non-profit provides food, toiletries and other necessities to at-risk teens in the valley. The whole evening was an exciting demonstration of love in action as patrons witnessed that MSW has a deeper mission behind everything we do.
